Words, Vacillations and Smokescreens: Obama’s Foreign Policy M.O.

It’s been over two months since General McChrystal, our top commander in Afghanistan, put out the call for more troops.  President Barack Hussein Obama continues to hem and haw and hold endless meetings to discuss the issue.  Maybe he’s too busy having parties with J-Lo and friends, compiling his enemies list, pushing healthcare, playing B ball and campaigning for fellow Dems to worry about such trivialities as warfare.  Meanwhile, things get worse abroad and more of our soldiers are paying the highest of price for an indecisive commander-in-chief.

Obama’s stalling is a perfect example of his methodology: vacillate and ignore a problem or fixate on discussion rather than action.  It’s inertia vs. movement.

President George W. Bush was all about action and movement.  People denigrated his cowboy diplomacy but he acted in the best interests of his country and those at risk.

Obama is standing still. He’s acting as if he were posing for an oil painting while America suffers.  He seems more interested in his celebrity status than the people he was elected to govern and protect.

When we do see Obama move, it’s to advance his personal legacy.  Consider that he still claims to have put an end to torture in the context of military interrogations when we never advocated it.  Consider that he continues to work to close Gitmo and bring terrorists to American soil.  (The Constitutional rights of U.S. citizens are under attack on a daily basis with Obama and his Marxist and Mao-loving camp, even as known terrorists will be given constitutional rights and tried in American courts.  OK imagines that so much of the information that could convict the terrorists will need to be omitted during their trials due to national security.  In other words, it's hard to feel confident that justice will be served.)

And Obama promises to make Cap and Trade a reality.  This on the heels of growing evidence that Al Gore's global warming is a hoax (and a profitable one that’s made the ex-vice president rich in spite of thousands of scientists who counter the issue and want to debate Gore on the issue; he refuses. He even had a reporter’s microphone cut when the questions concerning discrepancies in An Inconvenient Truth grew too warm and inconvenient).

Moreover, Obama promises to make national healthcare come to pass.  This is yet another power grab designed to dismantle the greatest healthcare system in the world.

In other words, when it comes to radically changing our country – for the worse – Obama hops to the task with a lilt in his step.  But when it comes to directing necessary attention to foreign policy and winning a war, he checks out.

How’s this for cowboy diplomacy:  “the strategic nuclear power of the United States has been so greatly modernized and expanded in the last 1,000 days, by the rapid production and deployment of the most modern missile systems, that any and all potential aggressors are clearly confronted now with the impossibility of strategic victory – and the certainty of total destruction – if by reckless attack they should ever force upon us the necessity of a strategic reply.”

Who spoke those words?  No one, actually – but President John Fitzgerald Kennedy would have, if he had lived long enough to make it to the Dallas Trade Mart the afternoon he was assassinated.  The differences between John Kennedy and Barack Obama – between being a Democrat in the Kennedy era and being a Democrat in the 21st century – are profound.  JFK spoke often of peace in the world, but he understood the price that had to be paid in order to attain it.  His administration engaged in numerous clandestine activities designed to ensure America’s freedom and safety.  Obama’s vision of a pacifist world, on the other hand, is pure fantasy - a utopian dream.  Ultimately, it’s about ignoring a problem and hoping it goes away, rather than acting to fix it.

Obama’s M.O. also involves using the lamestream media to set up smokescreens and divert attention from a lack of decision on Afghanistan and our country’s most pressing issues.  We hear more about balloon boy hoaxes than about energy bills that will kill our already depleted bank accounts. We hear about Obama’s vow to end “don’t ask, don’t tell” in the military while our soldiers are imperiled abroad.  We hear about how baaaaaaaad FOX News is, how Obama will not grant it any interviews until at least 2010 and how it isn’t a true news facility.  The latter from Obama advisor David Axelrod, who also told ABC that FOX is undeserving of being treated as a true news organization: “the bigger thing is that other news organizations, like yours, ought not to treat them that way, and we're not going to treat them that way” (Ann Sanner, “White House Continues Attack on Fox News,” October 19, 2009, http://www.gopusa.com/news/2009/october/1019_wh_fox.shtml).

Here’s another line from John Kennedy’s undelivered speech:  “If we are strong, our strength will speak for itself. If we are weak, words will be of no help.”

Thankfully, more and more Americans – including many Obama supporters – are getting tired of the endless wordplay. They’re growing exasperated with the stalling and smoke and mirrors.  They comprehend that Obama is more about inaction than action.  The president’s approval rating has hit a new low. Obama's loyalties or lack thereof are drawing attention. Fewer are laughing when the birthers cry out that being a Natural Born Citizen is an important issue for U.S. presidents.  More Americans are questioning why Obama didn't embrace his Muslim root system until after he was elected.

Our soldiers – indeed, all Americans – need more than words and silence from you, Mr. President.  We need the kind of action that JFK would have spoken of had he lived to deliver his Trade Mart speech in Dallas:  “In this administration also it has been necessary at times to issue specific warnings – warnings that we could not stand by and watch the Communists conquer Laos by force, or intervene in the Congo, or swallow West Berlin, or maintain offensive missiles on Cuba. But while our goals were at least temporarily obtained in these and other instances, our successful defense of freedom was due not to the words we used, but to the strength we stood ready to use on behalf of the principles we stand ready to defend.”

We need actions from you, Obama.  Weeks ago.

An Immodest Proposal: The GOP Should Fund More Town Hall Meetings to Advance Liberal Unraveling

Here’s an immodest proposal from OK: The GOP and various conservative groups should start the Obamacare Town Hall Kitty.  All Americans concerned about preserving individual liberties and keeping privatized health care should contribute a few bucks and send the Dems – including Obama, Nancy Pelosi and anyone else who wants to ride the Obamacare Town-Hall Bus – anywhere in America that they want to make their pitch.

Why?  Because Obama & Co’s town hall meetings have become the biggest boost to American conservatism in months.  Rather than bolster their position and convince the American people that our country needs socialized medicine, the president and his liberal lemmings are running into conservative dissenters who oppose such a move. And the dissenters are fighting with the best weapons: informed positions, passion and anger.

In fact, conservative opposition has been so great that liberals have had to re-write history as their position unravels.  They’re calling conservative protestors “an unruly mob” being fueled by “Right-wing extremists.”  They’re blaming Rush Limbaugh for raising the specter of the Nazi party when in fact it was Nancy Pelosi who first brought the Nazis into association with Obamacare protestors when she said protesters were arriving to town hall meetings bearing swastikas.

Other libs snatched the strategy of linking conservative town hall attendees with the worst of the worst.  Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) decided to align conservatives with the Ku Klux Klan and white supremacists. He claims that “the last time I had to confront something like this was when I voted for the civil rights bill and my opponent voted against it. At that time, we had a lot of Ku Klux Klan folks and folks in white sheets and other things running around causing trouble” (Jim Geraghty, “Rep. John Dingell: Health Care Opponents Remind Me of the Klan & White Supremacists,” August 11, 2009, National Review, http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=ZjdlZmRiNGRhYjkyMDYyNzQxMGQwZjk5YTE3OGM1ZGE=).

In other words, anyone who opposes any aspect of the various socialized medicine plans Obama and the Dems are pitching is either a Nazi or a racist. What a double standard. Pelosi and Hillary Clinton were pro-dissenters during Bush’s time in office. According to Pelosi, calling George W. Bush a Nazi was okay. When those on the far Left depicted Bush as Hitler and wished him dead, they were just citizens exercising their First Amendment rights.

This is the way the Democrats are trying to re-write history and this is the extent to which they are unraveling as a party. Americans are wisening up. Many see right through the liberal propaganda.  In spite of the spin of the mainstream media; in spite of anything anyone in the Obama camp wants us to swallow without scrutiny, Americans are becoming more hawkish.  The majority of our citizens don’t want Obamacare.  In fact, study after study shows that most Americans are pleased with their coverage:

CNN/Opinion Research: 74% of the polled are happy with their current coverage. (July/August ’09 poll)

Employee Benefits Research Institute: 58% of the polled are happy with their current coverage. (July 2009 poll)

FOX News/Opinion Dynamics: 84% are happy with their current coverage. (July 2009 poll)

Source: Campaign for American Solution, August 18, 2009 (http://www.americanhealthsolution.org/fact-check-americans-are-satisfied-with-their-health-plans-2/)

Proof that Americans are growing more critical lies in the ruckus raised over the House bill’s deathwatch provision. The libs said no such thing was in the bill, but now it’s been taken out.  (How can you scrub something that wasn’t there to begin with?)

And what about the health care for illegal aliens that’s been carefully folded into the bill? Conservatives have ferreted that beast out too.

Mark Levin claims that American conservativism is on the rise.  He’s right.  First there were the Tea parties. Now look what’s happening at the at town hall meetings.  A substantial portion of the American public is mad as hell and essentially saying no to further liberal lunacy.

Oh, and conservatives aren’t behaving like an “unruly mob” but rather, like an informed public who wants its dissenting voice heard.  That’s more than we can say for the thuggish liberals. Democrats are running scared. Some are refusing to physically attend their own town hall meetings and are showing up as ghostly voices emanating from loudspeakers – or on milk cartons under the heading “Missing” (see gatewaypundit.blogspot.com).

OK, so we won’t fund the Dems’ town hall meetings – but let’s hope they keep going a little longer.  We believe that in their own way, they’ve been as effective at drawing conservatives together as some Tea parties.  The town hall events are forcing Obama’s soldiers to confront their constituents and make decisions.  Either they begin to oppose the health-care bill in its various incarnations and perhaps – perhaps – get re-elected, or they vote for Obamacare like lemmings and go over the election cliff, never to be heard from again. If it’s the latter, let’s hope they take this corrupt Democratic administration with them.

White House Bullying and Attacks on Free Speech Signal March Toward Tyrannical Government

By Kelly L. Goodridge and Oscar De Los Santos

An unprecedented assault on free speech (far worse than Nixon’s or Papa Bush’s attacks on Dan Rather) is underway. President Barack Obama recently warned Republicans on Capital Hill to stop listening to El Rushbo if they want to get along with Democrats. He said, “You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done” (January 23, 2009, http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/01/23/obama-quit-listening-rush-limbaugh-want-things/Fox news). This isn’t the first time the new president has taken a swipe at the media. Obama appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s show last September and claimed, “There’s a whole bunch of stuff said on FOX about me that is completely biased.” Obama claimed that “hateful things” have been said about him and mentioned FOX news commentator Sean Hannity in the same sentence (http://crooksandliars.com/2008/09/10/obama-calls-out-fox-news-and-sean-hannity-as-promoting-hate-against-himself).

Yet during the election Obama didn’t seem to remember biased or hateful speech spoken during Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s sermons – a church he attended for twenty years. Today, those who dare speak against Obama and his plans are being bullied, if not directly by Obama, then by his camp.

For instance, last week White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs took on Rick Santelli, a 14-year veteran reporter for CNBC, after Santelli went on a rant about the unfair “loan modifications through bankruptcy judges” plan that appears in the stimulus bill (2-20-09). As written, the stimulus bill allows for refinancing of irresponsible mortgages – despite whether or not the person who took out the loan could meet the original payments. Santelli is upset because the government wants to refinance these irresponsible loans and charge all taxpayers for the deadbeats’ mistakes. Gibbs’ attack on Santelli was demeaning and insulting. Besides mentioning that Santelli should drink “decaffeinated coffee,” Gibbs also suggested that the reporter “print it [the stimulus bill], and begin to read it.” It’s an ironic comment from the president’s press secretary, considering members of Congress have admitted to voting on the bill without having read the bill or knowing all that it contains.  At least Santelli read the mortgage document portion of the bill and cited the populous revolt of Obama’s recovery act (see The Kudlow Report, 2-21-09).

Later that day, Gibbs' attack was followed by MSNBC's Chis Matthews, who interviewed Santelli. Besides asking Santelli whom he voted for (a dirty dig), Mathews accused Santelli of attacking Obama. Matthews also likened Santelli to other Obama enemies. “You're up there with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. It's quite a team. You're probably the smartest in that group, I'll tell you that," said Matthews (http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/02/cheap-shot-chris-matthews-attacks-rick.html).

Last October, Hannity interviewed then Obama spokesman, Gibbs and asked him about Obama’s friendship with Bill Ayers, a known terrorist and Pentagon bomber. Gibbs called Hannity an anti-semitic on-air, and later posted that Hannity was a “Jew hater” on a liberal website (http://celebgalz.com/sean-hannity-robert-gibbs-hannity-gibbs-video/).

This bullying is in addition to the current administration – and many Democrats – constantly attacking the previous administration. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass) has been bashing President George W. Bush since 2004. Last week, Kerry slammed Bush before meeting with Syrian officials in Damascus. As Gateway Pundit reports, Kerry’s Bush-bashing follows Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s attack on W earlier in the week. Hillary, another long-time Bush-basher, went so far as to blame W for pushing “the North Korean regime to develop Nukes” (Gateway Pundit, 2/21/09). Gateway also reported that Hillary’s attack on Bush follows Obama’s attack of Bush in his television interview with Al-Arabiya.

Such attacks on any who dare to oppose Obama and his positions – past or present – are more than snarls and smears; they are unreasonable assaults leveled on free speech by some who are misinformed and others who simply wish to obfuscate the truth to serve their own purposes. Indeed, they are another signal that when it comes to dirty fighting in politics, liberals bring new meaning to the term “low blow.”
